Traditional Weddings

Non-denominational weddings

Non-denominational couples may choose to implement traditional or contemporary segments from different religious sectors into their wedding, and they may choose to write their own vows.  

Vow renewals​

Vow renewals are celebrations of  the life a couple has had together.  Often times planned for a milestone anniversary such as the 10th, 25th or 50th wedding anniversary.

elopments

Elopements are conducted primarily for couples wanting to get married without all of the necessities of a traditional wedding.  Two witnesses (at least 18 years of age) are required.

Ceremonial Traditions

Jumping the broom

Jumping the broom is tradition that symbolizes sweeping away the old and welcoming IN the new. a symbol of a new beginning.  It roots derive from African tribal marriage rituals in which sticks were placed on the ground representing the couples new home. It is now a popular tradition among African Americans to honor their union.

Unity candle

Lighting of the unity candle symbolizes the joining together of two separate lives. It is the coming together of two families and merging of two individuals into one marriage.

Blending the Sands

Blending the sand ceremonies originate from Hawaii and uses colored sands that are blended together in a keepsake vase or vessel. For weddings on the beach many couples use the beach sand as the foundation sand in the vessel.
